3 Signs That It’s Time to Refresh Your Website
A business website is no longer optional. In fact, you need a website in order to market your business effectively. But getting a site online and forgetting about it is not enough. Here are some signs that it's time to refresh your website.
1. Your contact information has changed.
This may seem obvious, but I come across a lot of sites with outdated and inaccurate contact information. There is no bigger turnoff to a potential client than a phone number that's been disconnected or an e-mail address that is undeliverable.
2. Your content hasn't been updated since the launch.
Even if you included very thorough and inclusive content on your site initially, it will need to be refreshed from time to time. Your specific services, your business values and your target audience can all change. And even if the updates are minor, your website should be as accurate as possible.
3. You are not getting picked up by search engines.
Getting indexed by the main search engines can take months, but if you submitted your site and are still not coming up for your top keywords, it may be time to revise some of your tags and rewrite some of your content.
Unless you have the budget to hire a SEO professional, which most of us don't, you should be staying on top of search engine activity for your site. You can do this by installing and reviewing reports from Google Analytics and tweaking as you go to see what produces an improvement in your site traffic.
