seo 5 Search Engines to Submit Your Site to for FreeThere are a lot of services out there that claim they will submit your website to a collection of search engines for a fee. Most of these make me very nervous because you are paying for a service you can’t really verify, at least not initially.

But you can’t just sit and wait for the search engines to find and index your brand new website. So here are five engines you can submit your site to yourself to speed up the indexing process.

  1. Google: Enter in your URL.
  2. DMOZ: Navigate to the appropriate category for your site then submit your URL, title, description and your contact information. All submissions are reviewed by a real person.
  3. Bing: Enter in your URL.
  4. Yahoo: Enter in your URL or RSS feed.
  5. Alexa: Enter in your URL (Alexa is not a search engine; they are a popularity and traffic tracking service, so it doesn’t hurt to make sure you are listed with them.)

Keep in mind it can still take weeks, even months, for your site to begin to appear in search results. And there are never any guarantees that your site will actually get indexed. Plus, how your site has been optimized with keywords will also play a part in the ranking of your site. But submitting to these free sites is something you should do for all of your websites to help them become established.
