Will Your Small Business Use Google Wave?
Last month, Google previewed their newest collaboration tool, Google Wave, which is scheduled to be released later this year.
A very attractive feature is the flexibility and focus on streamlined communication and collaboration. As a simplified description, it’s like e-mail, IM, and a shared notebook combined. From the preview announcement, here’s how it works:
it. Everyone on your wave can use richly formatted text, photos,
gadgets, and even feeds from other sources on the web. They can insert
a reply or edit the wave directly. It’s concurrent rich-text editing,
where you see on your screen nearly instantly what your fellow
collaborators are typing in your wave. That means Google Wave is just
as well suited for quick messages as for persistent content — it allows
for both collaboration and communication. You can also use “playback”
to rewind the wave and see how it evolved.
Like some other Google projects, it will be open source and there will be a tremendous amount of extensions and even functionality that allows users to embed waves on their websites.
I will definitely be watching the coming months…I think this has huge benefit for small businesses looking to collaborate and stay connected. What do you think?
