club The Benefits of Joining a Membership SiteI have been hunkered down over the past few months, creating a membership site for virtual assistants that focuses on providing targeted interactive training, mentoring/coaching and enhanced opportunities for collaboration. It’s been a lot of hard (but fun) work, and with the public launch happening today (yay!), I thought I’d take a minute and talk about membership sites as a whole and how joining the right one can be beneficial for any professional.

Collaboration

One of the best elements of a community-based membership site is the increased opportunity for collaboration. Being able to participate in direct and industry-specific discussions, learn from your peers, and share your own experiences can do a lot to boost the success of any business. This type of collaboration also helps us to hear, and learn to appreciate the views and perspectives of others who may have taken a different (and maybe more effective) path than you did.

Mentoring/Coaching

Most membership sites are usually created by someone who knows the industry, is a leader, and can even be considered an industry expert. If the administrators are making themselves open and available to the membership, you can gain some insider insight, tips for success and advice from someone who has been in your shoes. It can be a great way to get some new direction and energy in your business.

Valuable Information

A key feature of most membership sites is the exclusive access to exactly the information you need to take your business to the next level. The content provided through these sites is typically not available to the public, so not only can it have relevance for your immediate needs, but it can also give you a leg up on the competition.

Amplified Ability to Learn

If you find a membership site that is focused on providing in-depth training with a diverse presentation format, you will be able to maximize your time spent on the site and quickly pull and absorb the information you need to make immediate changes in your business.

Do you belong to a membership site focused on your industry? What are some of the benefits you’ve gotten out of it?
