Boost Your Idea Power with Mind Maps
Mind maps are a great way to bust through an idea rut, feelings of overwhelm and other business challenges. They can inspire creativity, generate new ideas, help to solve problems, and clear your head. Plus, they’re kind of fun to do!
Before you get started, let’s look at what a mind map is. Created by Tony Buzan, a mind map is simply a visual form of brainstorming. Many people find that the traditional brainstorming structure prevents them from connecting several ideas together to create a better solution. But mind maps remove linear restrictions, and can be graphical, iconic, keyword-driven or colorful information trees.
The beauty of your mind map is that it can be anything you want it to be. You can use a sheet of paper and a pencil, or even mind map software to create your mind map. But either way, the process is the same. Here’s an idea of how you can develop your mind map:
- Make the center of the page your primary idea of the entire mind map.
- Use keywords, images and colors.
- Use lines and arrows to create branches and connect one idea to another.
- Avoid thinking too much about it, just put the ideas down as you think of them.
- Be creative and make your own rules.
